Christmas Toffee

-½ cp water
-2 cps slivered almonds
-½ cp light Karo syrup
-1 1/3cps chopped walnuts
-2 ½ cps sugar
-10 oz. semi sweet choc chips
-1 lb. butter


Mix sugar, water, Karo syrup, butter and almonds in pot.

Cook on high and stir constantly until almonds turn dark and the liquid is a caramel color. If you drop a bit of it in cold water, it should harden instantly. This is the crack stage. It will be very hot, be careful!

Pour quickly into a jellyroll pan that is lined with foil and sprayed with Pam. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top and walnut pieces. Smooth melted chips after a few minutes. Let set until cool.

I usually take a large knife and just break up the large rectangle into bite size pieces once it has cooled.
